Spanky's -- is this another one of the small chain of restaurants, most of which are in Virginia? My mother took me to the one in Lexington, VA when I was about 7 years old almost 20 years later I returned to Lexington in search of Spanky's. I found it, and now I'm on a quest to eat at all of the Spanky's and Macado's in VA and surrounding states. It's a slow quest -- I only go to them when I'm driving by on an interstate on a trip. Does the Spanky's chain have a web page all its own?

There are three Spanky's in Savannah, Georgia. There is also a Spanky's in a nearby town called Brunswick. I have worked at Spanky's on River Street for a short while and the enviroment and people are wonderful. The food is not bad either!!

I was in a Spanky's restaurant in Brunswick recently and noticed the "old" molding and timbers. I own a house (circa 1900) which contains the same type of millwork. I am very interested in selling it. However, I do not know how to contact the home office of Spanky's to see if they are interested.

The Spanky's in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina are a completely different chain that any elsewhere. Actually, the chain was comprised of restaurants named Spanky's and other named Macado's (After Spanky Macher and his brother Richard Macher, nicknamed Mock-a-do in college). I think they are all named Macado's now, and the complete list of them can be found at www.macados.com. They are based out of Roanoke Virginia. I Have worked in several of them, and even did lots of construction on the one we opened in Boone, North Carolina. In Virginia, nearly all of them lie along US 81 somewhere. --David

Spanky's of Roanoke was in deed a part of Macado's until his brother Richard threw him out of the business. It is well know around Roanoke that Rowland "Spanky" Macher is a dishonest business man and files many frivolous law suits in an effort to harass people. He has no restaurants in Roanoke. His last effort, The Star City Dinner, holds the dubious honor of being the only Roanoke restaurant to ever be closed permanently by the health department.

"Spanky" Macher is indeed a dishonest business man and a scandalous person. In Lexington, Va his payroll checks bounced for weeks and knowingly kept signing them. He also has bounced checks to distributors such as Budweiser, for example and now has to pay groceries and other bills in cash becuase no one will except checks from him anymore.

I would have to agree with the other comments about Spanky being dishonest. He is using the excuse that us his employees were on the wrong pay schedule and we have to wait another two weeks for paychecks. After already recieving paychecks from Spankys how can this be right? He is indeed a dishonest man
